Not Verified | Its difficult to know where to start, but I'll confine myself to passport control. For a 10-50 am flight to Dublin My son and myself arrived at Lisbon airport at 8-00 am and very nearly missed our flight. Checking in was slow but we still had adequate time to make our flight, or so we thought. After a long badly sign posted walk to passport control, the fun started. After an hour standing in the queue for passport control the police officer had processed about 10 to 12 people in our queue, there were still approximately 100 people in front of us. Unless we did something I would consider unthinkable we were going to miss our flight, so we did. We became queue jumpers. I apologize to all the other passengers. I had approached staff and informed them of our situation but to no avail. When we got to the passport control officer it took her 10 minutes to process us. During this time I watched as other officers processed at least 5 groups of people. She handled our passports as if they had they just fallen out of a sewage plant, but didn't feel the need to wear any gloves? We only made the flight because so many passengers were late it was delayed. They all had similar stories to tell. We loved the city of Lisbon and its people but I could not possibly go back due to the conditions at the airport and the attitude of its staff, in particular passport control.

✅ Trip Verified | Terminal 2 is more practical and easier to transit than the main Terminal 1. The whole airport is very congested, planes are remotely parked, often you have to wait inside the airplane due to intense traffic, staff are however this airport's weakest point, they are either stressed out or their hiring process didn't include psychothecnic exams. It is however very central which is very convenient.

Not Verified | 2.5hr flight, followed by almost as long in a queue for passport control. 16 booths, just 7 manned, just 4 for the biggest queue. I, my partner and our daughter have biometric passports, but can't use the self service because '18+ only'. Surrounded by similar suffering families with kids. Awful airport. Suggest going elsewhere. Spain is nice this time of year.

Not Verified | Logistics are terrible. Connecting from Boston to Rome. Landed and had to take a bus to passport control, long ride, stairs from plane to tarmac. Once thru passport control, signage for next flight gate was terrible. Found the gate and instead of walking from the terminal onto the plane it was back on a bus. I guess if you want to be nostalgic and go back to the 1950s, travel thru Lisbon.

✅ Trip Verified | I have known Lisbon airport for 8 years now and all I can say is overcrowded, dirty, outdated and just outright unpleasant. I have flown to or via Lisbon Airport about 20 times. I am disgusted by it very single time. There have been plans to replace it for many years now, but nothing happens. All while the existing airport, especially Terminal 1, falls into increasing disrepair and management seems to have abandoned it. Windows, seats, floors - even the walls are dirty! Ceiling panels are missing, floors are damaged or worn through, seats are sometimes torn up and except for few places, air quality is terrible. To the people in the management: This is your capitals airport. It's what many people see first of your country. There really is no excuse for this...don't you feel ashamed?

Terrible airport. Poorly signposted for check-in, far too busy for the size and design. Huge queues at passport control, toilets, restaurants, duty free. Hard to navigate as the signposting once through passport control is not very clear. Vastly insufficient seating at the gates.

Not Verified | What can you say about the dysfunction going on at this airport? Terrible end to a trip. We travelled with my 80 year old father-in-law who uses a cane and thought we could receive help of a wheel chair which has never been a problem in other airports. That aspect was a huge problem in itself from beginning to end. The icing on the cake was being placed at our gate with the airport assistant and then harassed twice by super aggressive airport police who wanted to separate us even after we went through all the security. I enjoyed Portugal but will not recommend it to anyone because the undue stress of travelling through what embodies the worse attributes of each airport function, security, check-in, passport, taxi pickup and drop off, bad signage, confusing layout, huge queues, stairs and elaborate busing to get on and off a plane rather than typical passenger bridges. It's a shame as Portugal is a lovely country, also especially beguiling why this airport isn't properly managed. Better to leave 5 hours before departure. Our car company would have made us miss our flight as they had suggested 2.5. Watch out if you are going this this place!
