Munich Airport customer review

I know that Munich has been voted one of the best airports in Europe and I understand why. It is very well laid-out and very user-friendly. I would say it is as good as Frankfurt is bad. Therefore when flying Lufthansa and having to make a stop-over in Germany I would pick Munich with no hesitation!

Munich Airport customer review

A wonderful airport; aesthetically pleasing clean and efficient more so than FRA due to its smaller size. Pleasant and obliging staff at check-in (LH 4U AB etc) and at security. Good variety of shopping and dining options both land and airside but at usual inflated airport prices. Excellent transportation options to get to the city and the whole airport experience pleasant. This is perhaps Europe's most efficient and passenger-friendly airport.

I was there last summer for a flight to DOH with Qatar Airways through Terminal 2. Airport was very clean! A broad variety of Shop and very quiet even at night or in the morning! I had almost no queues and the Baggage was really fast to pick up the only Airport with that size which managed that faster was NRT. All in all a good Airport.

Munich Airport customer review

As we had lots of luggage what was greatly appreciated at Munich airport was the fact that you can transfer from the plane to the train without having to unload your bags from the trolley at any time! The airport trolleys are designed so that they can ride up and down the escalators and there are lifts as well. The trolleys are also allowed to go down on the train platform and there is not even a single step to get on the train. A very pleasant airport too bad that the fussy Swiss staff wasted us half and hour wanting to charge us a fee for excess length of one of my bags a 2m long ski bag for which there would be absolutely no charge if it was skis inside but chargeable as I was carrying some long kites in it instead! I was about to cut all my kite spars in half in order to avoid the 100$ charge when the manager finally allowed this bag too - next time I'll just pretend to be carrying skis!

6am arrival with 6 hour layover. When I arrived hardly any of the shops were open and was surprised at just how quiet the airport was - it was almost deserted. Within the next 2 hours the airport did become busier though and there was a wide range of shops and restaurants to choose from.

Clean spacious very quiet well-organised clear signs. Good choice of shops and places to eat - nicer than average airport range. I spent quite a while here as my incoming flight was delayed and hence I had to get a later transfer - staff were helpful and efficient organising this and food voucher was supplied quickly without my having to ask for it (unlike at some other airports). If I had to be stuck at any airport this was a good one to be stuck at!

Early evening arrival ex LHR transit to ADB. First impression is the airport is very quiet - no noise of travellers or shoppers little sound of any sort of business. Predominantly grey colour scheme - highly polished floors not too many shops but pretty broad choice. Ample signage for information about dept. gates and flight times. Choice of eating places - typical coffee and baguette €7.20 / £5.50; spaghetti meal €10 ; pizza slice €4 etc.. Dept. gates are quite a distance apart (and also on two levels) so allow for sufficient walking time if connections are close together. Some travelators to various gates make it a bit easier. No delays at security on arrival (note a revolving full height barrier gate might be a challenge to some partially disabled pax as the access to it is quite narrow) or on departure all very prompt. Plenty of seating available free papers to pax if required. Clean and efficient service.

I travel thru Munich Airport a lot. City Connection takes about 20-40 minutes by car from the city center (depending on traffic) and even longer via public transport. Trains leave regularly during daytime. Departure depending on airline there may be long waits for check in. Passport and security checks are usually fast the staff is firm but friendly. Security checks seem to be very good. Duty free shop assistance often very rude for unknown reasons. Arrival especially in Terminal 1 there are often long lines at immigration. The bags usually arrive within 10-15 minutes after arriving at the gate which is ok. There are no customs checks for every arriving passengers (or forms to fill out) which is a big time-saver. Sometimes passengers get picked at random for checks but only seldom. Very clean airport. Good selection of shops including supermarkets. All in all a very good airport - way better than many bigger airports.

Stopped over in MUC in transit from HAJ to MAN. As with other comments agree that the airport is very clean and pretty well laid out. My problem is with the attitude of the staff which in both occasions I've used the airport I've found to be unhelpful. Real shame as the airport itself is fine but I'd not look to transit via Munich if I could help it in future.

Munich Airport customer review

The airport itself is nice but I cannot understand why they always need forever to get the bags off the plane. After our last flight from Chicago (direct) we waited almost 45 minutes before everything was off-loaded. The fastest they've ever managed is 30 minutes after an Easyjet flight from Stansted. Anyone flying into Munich whether Terminal 1 or 2 should try to only have carry- on if possible.
